High Tea at The Peninsula Hotel, Paris

Friday, February 24, 2017

Situated just a few steps from the Arc De Triomphe and surrounded by beautiful Hausmann style buildings, the Peninsula in Paris is probably one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stepped into. Last weekend my friend Bella and I headed there for their High Tea, stopping of course to take some pictures along the way.

Everything about the hotel was beautiful and The Lobby was no exception. The room literally felt like it was something out of the Palace of Versailles and the pastries looked insane. Luckily for us they were à volonté (all you can eat) so we could indulge in as much as we wanted.

The High Tea included a choice of teas, scones with cream and preserves, pastries, pain perdu and finger sandwiches.

Pastries included Mont Blancs (a chestnut/whipped cream delight) with sour cherries, chocolate and hazelnut cookies, chocolate éclairs, candied orange-scented madeleines, tarte tatin with caramel and lemon meringue pie.

Finger sandwiches were Scottish salmon with fresh dill, cucumber with cream cheese and devilled egg.

I ordered one of their passion fruit teas and Bella went for a classic Earl Grey. We honestly could not fault any of the food, if anything we wished that there were more finger sandwiches which were so so yummy. I don't even like egg but still enjoyed the devilled egg one!

The pain perdu (french toast) came in three different varieties: chocolate, hazelnut and caramel. You can see me tucking into the hazelnut one in the photo above and not going to lie, they didn't last very long.

In addition to all of that there was also a chocolate fountain with a range of goodies that you could smother in chocolate but after all of the little pastries I was well and truly done with all things sugar. How pretty though?!

It was honestly the most perfect girly afternoon and the staff at The Peninsula (map below) were all so lovely and accommodating. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a special treat or are after a wonderful High Tea - the food was incredible and they're really not stingy on portions, we went for a walk along the Seine afterwards just to walk off some of the indulgence, as well as to enjoy the views of course. For bookings or a look at the menu click here. If you do go, get the passion fruit tea!
